What Should be my Skin Care Routine?

What should my skincare routine be?

Skin Care Routine

For as long as history prevails, skincare has always been an important part of every woman’s routine. It is a perfect way of maintaining skin integrity and enhancing our appearance. Our skin is the largest barrier that we have against the environment and the infections that it contains. Hence, keeping our skin healthy and moist is critical and that requires a daily effort.

In the past few years, skincare has changed a lot. From our grandmother’s at-home facials to machines that now help rejuvenate skin; we’ve changed our methods to be better, faster, and less messy. We went from using Multani Matti as an exfoliator to now getting exfoliators in a packed bottle that take less than two minutes to work. All these changes have helped in making routines, an easier task to follow.

It is a norm, in today’s society, for everyone to use products to enhance their skin’s appearance but all the chemicals found in these products, such as alpha hydroxyl acids, may do further damage. This brings me to express the initial purpose of this article; how to get healthy skin without the use of products. Here are some tips that can help you bring out your inner beauty;

  • DRINK MORE WATER

It’s an overused tip but it is also the most important of them all. Drink the right amount of water daily and you will notice a huge shift in your skin. Just by changing one habit of choosing water over sodas, you will be surprised to see how much glow your skin radiates, the luster will amaze you.

  • SWEAT FOR YOUR COMPLEXION

Getting exercise every day where you sweat a gallon is a great way of cleaning your pores out. Exercising helps remove toxins from your body, cleaning your blood and enhancing circulation which helps stop the growth of pimples and makes you look fresh and active.

  • A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP

Lack of sleep shows clearly on our face, disguised as dark circles, dull complexion, and a very stressed-out-you. It overall affects your body, physically and mentally. Getting the right amount of sleep and sleeping early in the night, helps your body to relax. It gives your body time to focus on itself and encourages a lack of stress which leads to healthy skin and a healthier state of mind.

  • HEALTHY DIET = HEALTHY SKIN

Junk food has replaced the practice of eating healthier with eating easier. It has made a prominent place in our daily diet, especially for young adults as they are always on the go. But all the saturated fats, the excess sugar, and the processed foods are doing nothing but adding more toxins and minimizing the nutrients required by our body. Choose to eat healthily and fulfill the requirements of nutrients, minerals, and vitamins demanded by your body. Eat more fruits and veggies with an occasional pizza on the side. You will see a prominent change in your skin. Remember, the closer you are to nature, the healthier you are. And the healthier your skin!

  • TREAT YOUR SKIN GENTLY

When you go shopping, make sure you are buying all-natural, non-toxic skin products. The truth is, whatever you put on your skin, goes straight to your bloodstream and that will just increase the toxin load in your body. So make sure to check the ingredients of your products before buying them.

You should always be a priority for yourself, so treat yourself with kindness and the universe will follow the lead. Stay gorgeous.
